This gallery shares our pictures and videos of the interior of the house. Pictures on this page will be updated fairly regularly as we get work done.
Final “before” and “after pictures will be shared on the Reveal pages when they are available.
“During” Pictures – Hall Bathroom
To say the completion of the Hall Bathroom was a monumental occasion is an understatement. While we were blessed to have the use of the basement bathroom over the past year while living in the RV and then after moving in, it was definitely far from a “spa like” experience…the word creepy is more in line with the experience 😉 However, the new hall bathroom is a dream and definitely worth sacrificing one of the original bedrooms to squeeze it (and the master closet) into the floor plan.

“During” Pictures – Master Bathroom
The master bathroom is still under construction, but we have the use of a toilet and sink. We had great luck finding a countertop at Granite Planet in Rogers, AR. They were able to get it cut, delivered and installed in 2 days. The shower pan and Durarock have been installed and tile stacked and ready to be installed. Since we have the functioning new hall bathroom, we’ve prioritized tiling the kitchen floor ahead of the shower.

“During” Pictures – Sun Room
The front sun room has turned into our most favorite place to sit any time of day. The room really came together with the completion of the floor and the addition of live plants and a couple of comfortable chairs. Still need to find some type of window treatments (shades) to help with blocking the early morning sun, but otherwise, this room is complete. The wood paneling and old brown shag was the “before” look. Quite the transformation!

“During” Pictures – Fireplace
After Peder created a shiplap feature above the mantle (replacing the large mirror,) Laura took on the project of updating the fireplace. It was a project done in stages, but is finally complete and we got the fireplace certified so that we could start having wood burning fires during the winter! The mantle wood was replaced with a “live edge” slab, the bricks painted a pewter gray and the hearth black.

“During” Pictures – Kitchen
The kitchen continues to be a work in progress, with the floors and the wall unit oven and microwave yet to be completed. Latest update on on our continued saga of backlogged units is that the wall oven and microwave may be delivered in March 2023. The area that connects the kitchen to the basement will also take some time to do and is a bit of a back burner right now, but we’ve landed on most likely doing shiplap to cover the transition from the drywall of the kitchen to the brick walls of the back door and basement stairwell.

“During” Pictures – Living Room
The living room is complete and we have moved in and decorated.

“During” Pictures – Hardwood Floors
One of the most remarkable transformations was the hardwood floors. As Peder redesigned the layout for the main floor, he did his best to save the white oak hardwood flooring. The narrow width, quarter sawn “old school” boards makes this a very unique floor…very much worth saving. We knew we had to trust the experts to sanding and refinishing, so we turned to Josh Zech, owner of Red Oak Flooring Co. Josh did a great job sanding the old shellac, years of spills and paint splatters down to the bare wood and then helped with creating a custom stain color that gave new life to the original floors. You can find a few more pictures on Red Oak’s Facebook page.

“During” Pictures – Drywall
If the insulation gave shape to our vision, the drywall made it come to life!

“During” Pictures – Insulation, Plumbing and Electric Complete
What a huge change adding the foam insulation made! First, it gave shape to the overall rooms, helping reaffirm that our ideas are coming together, and secondly it really cut down on the exterior road noise. We love living in this part of Rogers, but with a fire department just down the road, sirens in the middle of the night are not always the most welcome!

“During” Pictures – Starting the Build
Peder did a phenomenal job designing, laying out and building the new interior to the main floor. Lots and lots of timber…100% installed by him. He raised the ceilings and created some unique features. In the end, we lost one bedroom on this floor (hope to add it back to the basement), but the loss created space for a second/hall bathroom, a slightly larger master bedroom and a small walk-in master closet.
